A home care company is under fire for alleged medical assistance fraud, for purportedly submitting claims for fraudulent personal care attendant and RN services, reports the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Husband and wife Ernest and Blessing Anyanwu owned and operated Advantage Home Care Services in St. Paul, Minn.
The couple allegedly billed the state’s medical assistance program for services not provided and lied about services provided by certain types of healthcare professionals. Blessing is an RN and received $1.2 million from Advantage from 2006 through July 2010. The couple also failed to report monies that Ernest received as administrator and manager, amounting to more than $70,000, the complaints allege.
The couple faces two counts of medical assistance fraud and one count of theft by false representation, the Star Tribune states.
