MAC Targets HHAs For Medical Review With Their Own LOS, Payment Stats
Your length of stay stats for home care patients continue to be an area of scrutiny for one Medicare Administrative Contractor. HHH MAC Palmetto GBA has extended “Aggregate Length of Stay and Disbursement/Beneficiary” as an active medical review topic this quarter, according to its list of review topics updated Sept. 3.
Seven other active HHA topics involve high-therapy HIPPS codes. The lone non-high-therapy code under review continues to be 1BGP*. The remaining home health topic is the general “Home Health Services.”
On the hospice side, Palmetto has retained its “Hospice Services in SNF” and “Live Dis-charges” review topics. The MAC has dropped the general “Hospice Services” topic from the list.
